If you are looking for a custom solution to meet your organization’s needs, you’ll want to read this Q&A with Tuck Executive Education’s Senior Associate Director Phil Barta.
Why do our custom clients choose to partner with Tuck?
Our clients choose to partner with us because of the experience we bring in addressing a wide range of challenges, including the need to:
- Build bench strength and a pipeline of next-generation leaders
- Create a one-company mindset and cross-company collaboration
- Enhance global leadership skills and capabilities
- Focus on growth and making innovation happen
- Develop the strategic leadership capabilities of technically-trained executives
Tuck’s world-class reputation, the fact that our faculty are highly skilled in working with executives, and the personalized attention and service we provide are certainly also important reasons why clients continue to work with us over the course of many years and multiple deliveries.
How does Tuck help clients develop a solution?
We are passionate about co-creating a learning solution that has a transformational impact. We take the time to understand a client’s strategic imperatives and leverage our experience and resources to meet their goals. Our custom team brings a fresh perspective based on years of successful partnerships with many different types of organizations and an eagerness to explore innovative solutions. We love what we do, and I think that comes through in how we approach every aspect of a custom program.
What kind of custom programs does Tuck deliver?
The program architecture and design are based on client objectives. Our programs may integrate live and virtual learning experiences, experiential learning, peer coaching, action learning projects and immersion field visits, for example. They may be multi-module or single module, delivered on-site at Tuck or in global venues. Our coordination staff are expert at delivery around the world, and we are flexible in finding the right solution for the client.
What impact do our clients see as a result of these learning initiatives?
We know there are multiple ways of evaluating program impact and we work closely with our clients on the front-end to imbed into the program design features that promote application of learning. Our aim is to co-create a program that will ultimately meet their business objectives – whether the goal is developing strategic leadership capabilities, driving growth, or fostering more cross-company collaboration.
Our clients look for application of learning and impact on both individual participants and the organizations they lead. For one client, surveys administered some months after the program close and follow-up interviews with a sample of participants confirmed that the participants could identify how they used what they learned to create a positive impact on the business.
Another client tracked the outcomes of action learning projects such as the launch of a highly successful new direct-to-consumer channel, expansion into non-traditional retail channels, and adoption of core brand guidelines. A third client reported project outcomes that included a multicultural sales effort in the U.S. business that tripled the division’s overall sales (in double-digits) in its first year, and continued to outperform other areas, even in challenging times. The multicultural sales enterprise quickly expanded to other business lines, and continued to succeed.
