In an interview, Luis Felipe Trigueros TEE’24—director and COO of group operations at the Imberton Group and a recent participant in both the Tuck Advanced Management Program and Leadership and Strategic Impact—talks hiring the right people, values-driven leadership, and his experience developing a management action plan on the Dartmouth Tuck campus in Hanover, NH.
ON MY MIND
What’s top of mind for you right now? What issue(s) are you trying to solve?
In an accelerated growth environment, my key concern is ensuring the team avoids becoming overwhelmed by increasing workloads and pressure while also avoiding over-hiring that could lead to rightsizing later. Bringing in fewer but more senior team members helps improve productivity, but this presents additional challenges: finding the right talent in a competitive market and maintaining the morale of existing team members amidst these changes. Talent management—getting the mix of talent, timing, and numbers right—is critical to sustaining our culture, which I view as the foundation of our continued success.
ON LEADERSHIP
How would you describe your personal leadership style?
My leadership is grounded in honesty, kindness, and ethical decision-making. I aim to build a legacy rooted in values, ensuring every decision aligns with my conscience and positively impacts stakeholders. When hiring new team members, my larger focus is on cultural fit and how much the person genuinely wants to be part of the organization. The technical aspects of the job can be taught, but the rest stems from an enduring set of values. Hire based on values, and then take care of your people—results will follow.

What advice do you have for the next generation of leaders?
Two key things for success as a leader: focus on people and values. Innovation is brought forward by people. People will innovate if they are committed to your organization and goals. To foster that commitment, you must take care of your team and ensure cultural alignment.
ON TUCK EXECUTIVE EDUCATION AT DARTMOUTH
What were your top takeaways from your executive education experience at Tuck?
One of the greatest values of coming to Tuck was interacting with other executives, entrepreneurs, and professors. It was eye-opening to realize how similar the challenges we all face are, even across different industries and regions. Sharing ideas and getting diverse perspectives added incredible value to my approach to leadership and business execution. I also gained a group of peers I can count on for insights or support whenever needed—and I’m equally ready to help them.
How has AMP influenced your approach to team dynamics and decision-making?
Navigating corporate politics and influencing outcomes have been key to my success. AMP provided practical tools and models that I’ve applied to improve interactions and drive greater impact in the business. One-on-one conversations with professors allowed me to explore different approaches and adapt their models to my unique challenges, leading to tangible positive outcomes.

Tell us about your Management Action Plan (MAP). What was this process like, and why does it matter for leaders?
The MAP process transformed from an academic exercise into a practical, impactful plan for my daily work. Articulating and refining it through iterations helped consolidate my learning and bring structure to how I approach challenges. AMP’s emphasis on asking the right questions at the right time made the process manageable and effective, resulting in a high-value tool that aligns leadership lessons with actionable outcomes.

ON MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION
Who inspires you?
My family and God. Every decision I make goes through the filter of how it would be seen by my family—whether they would be proud of that decision—and if it helps me on my way to God or distances me from Him. Every career decision I’ve made has been guided by what is best for my family, regardless of the potential sacrifices I’ve had to make. Moving jobs, moving countries, taking on different roles, and even day-to-day decisions are all filtered through these views to ensure I feel comfortable and avoid future regrets. My family and God are my lighthouse, guiding me to shore.
What cause are you most passionate about, and why?
Improving the lives of people in the communities around us. There is so much need in countries in Latin America, and we need to be accelerators of change to deliver on those needs. As a company and as an individual, I have been blessed with opportunities that have allowed me to grow and thrive. It is our responsibility to give back and help others grow and thrive.
