The Impact Academy powered by the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth

The Impact Academy is a learning and development opportunity created especially for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement by Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth. Each program offers Team USA athletes and USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees the opportunity to learn immediately applicable skills that will propel their professional and personal growth, while also building a professional network with peers across teams and organizations. The Impact Academy is designed through close partnership with the audience it aims to serve, ensuring that the curriculum is relevant, in-demand, and powered by the thought leadership of one of the world’s top business schools.  

The initiative includes three virtual programs that are open to employees of the USOPC, NGBs, and LA28 with manager approval and to eligible Team USA athletes:
 

  • Are you looking to gain the tools you need to be an effective and impactful leader? Management Essentials is an intensive program that offers USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees and athletes organizational and management strategies that prepare them to lead success for their organization, their team, and themselves. Working closely with Tuck faculty and their peers, participants learn more about themselves as holistic leaders and make plans to apply their skills to drive the Movement forward. Session topics include organizational behavior, strategic thinking and priority-setting, business case creation, budget management, navigating difficult conversations, and principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    Outcomes
    Participants will build a deep understanding of how to effectively work with and manage others in the context of an organization and will improve their own leadership capabilities, in order to make a lasting impact on the Movement.

    Who Can Attend
    All Team USA athletes who are looking to build their management skills

    All USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees who currently have or aspire to management responsibility (people and/or project management), have been with the organization for at least six months, have no current employee issues, and have manager approval to participate.

    Time Commitment and Format
    This program is a live, virtual experience with Tuck and Dartmouth faculty. It will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from February 20 – March 6, 2024. Participants are expected to join from a place where they can engage fully, including use of video and audio on Zoom. In total, you will be asked to participate in 18 hours of classroom time and approximately four hours of preparation time.

  • Are you ready to take ownership of your career trajectory? Own Your Impact will help you better understand what motivates you and how to leverage your networks, enabling you to chart a course for the future. The program includes sessions on intrinsic motivation and strategic networking, as well as an interactive workshop based on the book Designing Your Life.

    Outcomes
    Participants will discover how they derive value from work, learn to use relationships as tools for advancement and growth, and create a plan for their career trajectory.

    Who Can Attend
    Anyone who is interested in learning more about themselves by exploring their motivations, values, and goals, including all interested Team USA athletes and all USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees who have been with the organization for at least six months, have no current employee issues, and have manager approval to participate.

    Time Commitment and Format
    This program is a live, virtual experience with Tuck and Dartmouth faculty. Dates and times will be announced soon. Participants are expected to join from a place where they can engage fully, including use of video and audio on Zoom. In total, you will be asked to participate in seven hours of classroom time and approximately one hour of preparation time.

  • This four-day virtual program will prepare athletes and nominated USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees to join non-profit boards. It is ideal for anyone looking to engage with and influence the direction of the Movement at the highest levels.

    Outcomes
    Participants will build a deep understanding of what a board does and how it functions, and gain the confidence and skills they need to fully participate as a board member. This will ultimately allow more qualified athletes to serve in board roles and increase their representation and impact on the Movement. 

    Who Can Attend
    All Team USA athletes who are interested in joining a non-profit board.

    USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees who are nominated by their manager.

    Time Commitment and Format
    This program is a live, virtual experience with Tuck and Dartmouth faculty. Dates will be announced soon. Participants are expected to join from a place where they can engage fully, including use of video and audio on Zoom. In total, you will be asked to participate in 18 hours of classroom time and approximately two hours of preparation time.


Additionally, select USOPC, NGB, and LA28 employees will be invited to attend two on-campus programs at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH:
